Kashmir Trout, an agri startup recognized by the Government of India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, is a one-of-its-kind entrepreneurial venture dealing in Himalayan cold water fish trout.

Trout, introduced in Kashmir by the British, is prized for its rich taste and nutritious value, which makes it a highly sought-after catch for fly fishing in natural streams. It is surprising then that there is hardly a national market for trout. We are out to change that.

To this end Kashmir Trout has been working with over 200 trout farmers to procure and supply the finest catch, and has launched the world’s first live trout sale centres. The aim is to provide fresh and hygienic trout to our customers as well as value-added products such as pickle, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat meals. For the ease and convenience of our customers, we offer online bookings and doorstep delivery as well. We have sold over 800 tons of produce so far and added three locations of operations.

Kashmir Trout is an end-to-end business: we procure the catch directly from farmers, and process, store and deliver it. We are currently working on the construction of Jammu and Kashmir’s first fish processing centre at Budshah Nagar, Srinagar. It’ll be a critical node in taking our product to national and international markets with required certifications and standardizations. We are also leveraging our website and mobile app to extend our reach in national and international markets.

Kashmir Trout is not only putting smiles on the faces of our customers who relish the cold water delicacy, but also on the farmers living in the Himalayas by paying them fair prices in a timely manner and easing their supply chain requirements.
